Favourites // May

May is always the month in which I find the biggest change in the things that I use. In the UK, the weather only really tends to warm up around May, so generally, it's only then that things start to turn around. May was the month that I tried a bunch of new products and labelled a few as favourites. From food to plants to shoes, I'm sure you'll find something here that takes your fancy!

'Acqua di Gioia' by Giorgio Armani

I am very picky when it comes to the way a perfume smells. I'm not a fan of overpowering scents and find very sweet scents to be too sickly. I've found it quite difficult to track down a scent that can fill my very specific criteria, and this one has somehow managed to do just that! I'm not the best at describing the way things smell, so taken from the description of it on the Giorgio Armani website, "the essence of joy" seems a pretty good way to sum it up. What I can say is that it's a very light, fresh scent, perfect for the warm season.

Holographic Shoes from Missguided

I fell in love with these as soon as I laid my eyes on them. Look at the colour - how can you not! Not only do these shoes let me feel like a spaceman, they are insanely comfy. If you are looking to buy these, you'll have to be quick because they sell like hot cakes! They are coming back into stock on the Missguided website at random times so keep your eyes peeled! If you're interested, you can find them here.

Succulents

I love plants. I love the way they look and how they add some life into any room. My issue is that I'm not great at keeping them alive. As hard as I try, they never seem to make it past a few weeks. My solution? Succulents. Upon telling the lovely lady in my local flower shop about my struggle with plants, she told me, "Don't worry, you can't kill these ones! Just water them every so often and they'll grow!" So far, so good with these little ones. I even decided to try growing one from a little seedling and it's still alive! So if you, like me, are a danger to living plants, succulents are your new best friends.

'Me Before You' by Jojo Moyes

Chances are, you've seen the trailer or at least heard the title somewhere recently. This book is now a film and was released in cinemas yesterday. Upon seeing the trailer not long ago, I decided to pick up the book and try and read it before the film came out. Although I'm not quite there yet, I'm very close to finishing it and I can tell you that this book will make you feel every kind of emotion with each page you turn. The book is so beautifully written and really lets you into the life of a quadriplegic. Of course, no spoilers, but you just need to watch the trailer to know that you're going to be needing a super size box of tissues for this one.

Lokai Bracelets

I have always been a huge supporter of this company. The general idea is that the black bead contains mud from The Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, and that the white bead contains water from Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. The two together are supposed to help you find your balance. The original bracelet is the clear one and that is available to buy at any point. However, the coloured ones are limited edition and are sold to raise money for different charities. This month's edition was the neon lokai, raising funds for the Make A Wish foundation. I really do love this company and everything that they do. Currently, there's no limited edition lokai bracelets, but if you're interested in purchasing the classic lokai, you can find it on their website here.

Tresemme Beauty-Full Volume Collection

I have pretty fine hair so getting any kind of volume into it can be a struggle. I don't particularly love teasing my hair so I'm always on the lookout for something to help me out. Recently, Tresemme came out with a line of products aimed to help you get some volume into your hair. What struck me first about the shampoo and conditioner in the collection was that it was a reverse step washing system, meaning you start with conditioner and then move onto shampoo. I was very curious to see how this would work so decided to give it a shot. At first, it felt very odd putting in conditioner and then shampoo, but after a few weeks it seems completely normal and I am loving it. Not only did these give my hair a bit of volume, they left it insanely soft and shiny. Definitely one to give a go if you struggle with getting some volume into your hair!

Smoothie Bowls

Smoothie bowls are taking the internet by storm. A fairly recent trend of putting a smoothie into a bowl and decorating with various fruits and granola is blowing up - and I'm in love. Although I'm not one to spend time decorating it beautifully with perfectly cut fruit and precisely placed granola, these things look beautiful and taste even better. With endless possibilities, these are definitely one of my go-to breakfast meals, and one I urge you to try!

(If you're wondering what I used in mine, I blended together frozen mango, a banana, frozen blueberries, frozen summer fruits and some strawberry yoghurt, topped with Special K flakes and honey)

'Cleopatra' by The Lumineers

This album is incredible. With 11 beautifully-written, chilled-out tracks, it's hard not to feel relaxed when listening to it. Some of my personal favourite tracks on the album include 'Ophelia', 'My Eyes' and 'Gale Song'. I have an infinite love for this album and will definitely continue to listen to it throughout the rest of the year.

What kinds of things have you been trying out and loving this month? Be sure to let me know!

Until Next Time!

    1. I finished the book the day before I went to see the film; definitely not enough recovery time! I have to agree though, I did like the book more! Still, I loved the film!

  6. I love your May round-up. Those sneakers are a beauty but I don't think that I am bold enough to rock them! I am just like you when it comes to gardening so succulents are my favourite plants as I won't kill them! Also need to read and watch me before you after I finish my exams :)
